Registered Massage Therapy (RMT) in Ontario is a regulated health care profession. It is the assessment of soft tissues and joints to treat, rehabilitate, or prevent injury, pain, or physical dysfunction. RMTs use a variety of modalities and techniques within their scope of practice such as myofascial and trigger point release, lymphatic drainage and Swedish massage. The knowledge accumulated is put into practice when treating each person’s conditions.
Does Extended Insurance Cover Massage Therapy?
Yes. WSIB and most insurance providers will recognize Registered Massage Therapy as a primary health care treatment. A receipt will be issued to you at the end of each treatment. If you don’t have an extended health care plan, save your receipts for income tax purposes.
